Prelims are two days away, and the pressure is on! It’s normal to feel anxious, to worry about last-minute cramming, or even to have a complete study block thanks to panic. But here’s the thing, future civil servants: This is your moment to breathe, not break. Let’s ditch the target-oriented revision and focus on getting you in the right headspace for the exam.
Step Back & Look at the Big Picture!
Think of PV Sindhu, the ace badminton player. Remember the intense pressure she faces before every major tournament? Yet, she maintains her composure, focuses on her training, and delivers stellar performances. You’ve trained hard for this, just like Sindhu. Trust your preparation and believe in yourself.
It's Okay to Not Feel Okay:
APJ Abdul Kalam, the people’s president, once said, “Dreams are not what you see in sleep, but what wakes you up to action.” This dream of cracking UPSC kept you going through long study hours. Now, acknowledge your anxiety. It’s a natural response to a high-stakes situation.
Relaxation is Your Secret Weapon:
Instead of panicking about unfinished revisions, take a deep breath. Go for a walk, listen to calming music, or meditate. Remember Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, who emphasizes the importance of mindfulness for peak performance. A clear and relaxed mind is more effective at recalling information than one clouded by anxiety.
Focus on What You CAN Control:
You can’t control the difficulty of the exam or what others have studied. But you can control your sleep, your attitude, and your approach to these next two days. Prioritize a good night’s sleep, eat healthy meals, and wear comfortable clothes to the exam hall. These seemingly small things can make a big difference.
Remember:
This exam is just one step on your journey. Don’t define your worth by the outcome. Give it your best shot, stay calm, and know that no matter the result, your future is bright.
We believe in you, future IAS officer!
